It’s Holiday Season December 22, 2006

I’m a huge fan of Christmas and the whole holiday season. I love the time off work, the family in town, the friends who gather at night to eat hearty meals and drink hearty wine. Really, there’s nothing better - thank goodness for the holidays, because without them, winter really would be a dark and sad affair (at least, in the northern hemisphere).

The NFL is looking crazy this year - teams that I thought were good (Denver, Seattle, NY Giants) are falling to pieces while others have emerged as contenders (Philadelphia, Kansas City, NY Jets). The playoffs are going to be terrific and I’m looking forward to catching every minute.

In proposal news - there’s apparently a few ad spots still left on the Superbowl! Not sure how I originally was given bad information (maybe because they don’t just sell ads to anyone), but for now, I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I did three radio shows over the last 2 weeks (maybe you heard me!) and am slated to be in several print publications, too. This site was also in last month’s ESPN magazine - incredible! Thanks so much to Joe and Greg, who’ve been rocking the campaign to get out the word.

I’ve also been shopping for rings lately and it’s quite a struggle. There’s all sorts of information - good and bad - out there on the web, and I’m torn in knowing which direction to choose. I think my safest bet (to ensure something she’ll love and something that isn’t supporting wars) is to buy Canadian - apparently, there are mines up near the arctic in Canada that produce high quality diamonds that are not “conflict.”

On the downside, they’re very expensive. I’m trying to work up enough money to afford something my girlfriend will really treasure and appreciate, but it’s hard with the holidays and Xmas presents.

So - I’m probably going to be very busy over the next 10 days with family and parties, but I wish everyone here a great holiday. Tonight’s the last night of Hanukkah (for our Jewish readers) and Monday is Christmas. Seven days later we’ve got New Year’s, which should be a great time, too. The best to everyone - thanks for believing in my goal; I hope that I can help all of you as much as you’ve helped me.
