6. CM - October 12, 2006

Okay, seriously…you really think you can do this?

7. gina g - October 12, 2006

If I started a website to raise money for some scheme, and somehow managed to get up to several thousand dollars, I’d sure as hell think I could do it.

8. dennis - October 16, 2006

whoa. last time I checked this site you were still at $1000…and that was hardly a week ago! what happened?

9. CM - October 16, 2006

All I’m saying is that $40,000 is a far cry from $2 million.

That’s all I’m saying.

10. Todd B. - October 16, 2006

It’s not like he hasn’t accomplished anything, though. He may still be a loong way off but it’s not out of the question anymore.

11. Ragina Landry - October 16, 2006

you go boy!

best of luck :)

12. berrygirl - October 19, 2006

I hope you make it. That would be totally awesome.

13. TIGGER - October 19, 2006

Man, you still got a looooooooong way to go.

14. Steve W. - October 19, 2006

I hope you make your commercial funny. Super Bowl commercials are supposed to be funny. It’s like a rule or somethng.

15. p.g. - October 19, 2006

I think your commercial should be done entirely in mime.

16. jessie - October 23, 2006

i just got married two weeks ago. good luck!

17. H.H.R. - October 23, 2006

Go get ‘em! Make us proud!

18. JJ - October 23, 2006

Hey, you’re in the Nashville City Paper! That might help a bit. Congrats!

19. JK - October 23, 2006

So if you don’t get enough to buy the ad, you’re going to return everyone’s money? Or if you, in the end, decide not to buy the ad?

20. RevilG - October 23, 2006

Uhm - not to be a wet blanket or anything, but as someone who works in TV (though not marketing) have you checked when the deadline is to buy ad time? I’m pretty sure they sell out the blocks pretty far in advance, and would need to see and approve the content before selling the block, so you would need to have the cash, and the ad completed, way way before the Big Event. Have you done any actual research on this, or are you just hoping this is a Hollywood movie and it will somehow all “work out” for our Romantic Hero at the last moment? Would be a shame to raise a passle of moolah though, and find out all the spots are gone…

21. MissPinkKate - October 24, 2006

Hmmm, somehow I have a feeling it would not be so much a “shame” as a “scam” if the ad can’t be bought. I’ll be interested to see the receipt for the donation to the children’s hospital.

22. foxeyes2 - October 24, 2006

I gave a small donation fully realizing that 1) he may not get enough money to buy an ad 2) that it could be a scam 3) that if it isn’t a scam and he doesn’t raise enough money there is no way to hold him accountable to donate the money to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.
The reason I gave is that I believe in love, that this is such an incredibly wacky yet romantic idea that it needs to be done.
If he reneges and doesn’t do the right thing then it will be on him and the guilt and shame will be overwhelming.

I wish you luck and hope that you and your girlfriend grow old together still in love when all you can remember is each other’s name.

23. MikeD - October 24, 2006

Doesn’t look like you have thought through the practical requirements for a Super commercial, as RevilG points out, so I don’t know if you are just naive or a publicity-seeker.

Also… what if she says NO? How about the world’s most public refusal?

24. Angie B. - October 24, 2006

I cant believe I found this page. I was just telling a colleague earlier today that my dream proposal would be for my boyfriend to do it
at the superbowl!

And here you are…making it happen for your girlfriend! Amazing. Well I wish you a lot of luck on this.

25. blabla - October 24, 2006

scam. you realize these ad blocks are paid for wayyy in advance

26. JasonB - October 25, 2006

What a waste of $2 mill

27. JoJo - October 25, 2006

the Titans suck this year, donate your money to them!

28. J Farley - October 25, 2006

Dude
Take a look at the major advertisers who regularly have spots in the SuperBowl and when you get close to the deadline for ad approval, contact the agency. If they ‘magically’ come up with whatever amount you are short ($1.8 million probably) they will get a huge bump in media buzz and viewership with people waiting to see who it is that proposes. And… do your proposal on the steps of the hospital or with the sign in the background. Just make sure that their website URL is visible.

29. scarlett - October 25, 2006

I just saw this pop up on the San Diego news this morning. This is really staring to get some coverage. if it maintains, there is a possibility of reaching the goal. Only thing is that the others are correct the ad blocks are usually reserved far in advance. the commercial needs to be complete and approved before it is aired. If you are not able to get the money or the block, are you going to wait and be prepared to reserve it for the following super game?

30. Pam Hubbard - October 25, 2006

GOOD FOR YOU! I think your creativity and initiative are to be greatly commended. Even if you don’t reach your financial goal, your girlfriend should be blown away that someone loves her so much that he would even attempt a fete like this. I hope you surpase your goal. I’LL BE WATCHING AT HALF TIME!

31. Anonymous - October 25, 2006

Have you tried advertising this on MySpace at all? Guaranteed you’d make a lot more money…

32. Fan For Hire - October 25, 2006

I’m willing to bet that this will get enough attention that the key people will make this happen. Whether he gets a corporate sponsor or what, I’m sure if he continues to get national media attention it will happen. Well done and congrats on making your idea work!

33. Joan Jones - October 26, 2006

33. ROMANTIC—-OCTOBER 26, 2006

What a wonderful, romantic gesture. What a lucky girl to have such a creative guy in love with her. Good luck. I sure hope you make it, and I sure will be watching. J J

34. PB - October 26, 2006

ANYTHING is possible! There are hurdles yes, but don’t let the details stop the dream (but don’t ignore them either!). If all the ad time is reserved, ask to go to the game and do it live or talk to a beer company and use one of their hundreds of spots or ask the network to add 15 seconds to a break or whatever!

Keep going baby!

35. Fang - October 27, 2006

Okay, I heard you this morning on the radio and thought you were an idiot for even imagining wasting so much money on such a “memory.” I doubt you’ll actually make it to the $2M for the commerical, but with your take, you can probably buy 30 seconds on the JumboTron at the Superbowl along with tickets on the 50-yard line so your girlfriend can see it in person. You may even have some money left over to give to the Children’s Hospital.
Good luck.

36. clover - October 28, 2006

My balls ache with jealousy

37. Fe McB - October 28, 2006

should see if you can get a sponsorship from a major jeweler for an ad, because I don’t think with the deadlines for placing the ads you’ll raise enough in time for this year’s bowl. I think this is an awesome concept though. I think you just need to try some other avenues for raising the money.
best of luck!

38. Mr. Hernet - October 29, 2006

What a hack! Probably co-sponsored by some AD Agency on the low.

39. Team Nonnie - October 29, 2006

Way to go!!! Good luck!! We love the idea! Keep us update. From all the guys and one girl at Madnonnie.com - Best of luck! Team Nonnie

40. Gretta - October 30, 2006

Do you realize how hard you’re going to have to work every year when anniversary time rolls around? You’re setting the bar pretty high for yourself on this one.

But seriously…good luck to you.

41. Richard Garcia (The Valentine's Show Staff) - November 8, 2006

wooww!!! you’re doing very well man.
I hope you’ll get it, just keep eyes on the road and spread the word everywhere.
Its cool to see people working with some ideas to get amazing results

We have (friends and i) an experimental project as yours called valentinesshow.com (ok ok, “just trying to spread the word”), so if you dont want to wait until superbowl, your welcome.

Besides, you have all our support and, seriously… Good luck man, we know you’ll get it

42. bahaah - November 21, 2006

im gonna lawl so hard if she says no.

43. bon - November 22, 2006

i think it’s a scam…that’s the real reason you’re keeping your identity secret. It’s too late to buy an ad and it’s hardly romantic if you make her wait another year for such a wasteful feat. let’s see if the children’s hospital gets a big check. i doubt it. And if they did who would know if you kept half the money? There’s absolutely no accountability here.

44. nick - December 2, 2006

May I make a suggestion. Why dont you contact the hospital to put something on their website. Thus helping legitimize your effort. I would go a long way to easing some fears about this being a scam. Also a donation contact person at the hospital to verify that they have been contacted by you.

Just a thought

45. Nathan Malone - December 3, 2006

It will be interesting to see what kind of a buzz this is able to generate in the next few months. If you can make it, though, the ad is sure to get a lot of attention.

46. **BrAt** - December 8, 2006

I have a Question….What happens to everyones donation if you don’t reach your goal. Since that was the intent of the donation are you going to return the money to the person???

47. idiot watcher - December 14, 2006

are you serious this guy is 100% an idiot.

48. Sophie - December 27, 2006

BrAt, he’s said if he doesn’t reach his goal, the money will be donated to the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.

49. Heather - December 28, 2006

There really are a lot of negative people out there but i honestly think that what you are doing is really sweet and poo on anybody who thinks any diff. If they had a problem with what you are doing then ignore the whole concept and keep your thoughts to yourself. But as for me.. goodluck and congratulations!!

50. Riffen - January 2, 2007

2milion $ thats alot of money!
ihope u have the money in time for superbowl!

Goodluck!

51. Eric - January 2, 2007

So typical american. In what other country would a person spend 2$ million to propose on tv? Well good luck

52. Eric - January 2, 2007

Btw, you’re in swedens biggest newspaper, check the url.

53. Eric - January 2, 2007

Btw, you’re in swedens biggest newspaper, take a look at the url.

54. Roberth Coordigan - January 2, 2007

It’s sad, whatever you say, this is a Scam, the design Stinks scam and the reason for the money is a scam and the event it self is not the biggest moment to propose a such thing unless you are a half-brain dead American who thinks American Football event like that is the biggest on earth.

55. Anton - January 2, 2007

Good luck man !! :)

56. Chavezzito - January 2, 2007

Well it´s international too, I´m in Sweden and just read about you on the newspaper…best of luck to you !!

57. Chris - January 2, 2007

Well, you can’t say that this campaign hasn’t got a big coverage by the media. I live in Sweden and the biggest newspaper here is writing about this site so he actually might make it!

58. Sweden FTW - January 2, 2007

Pretty cool idea, you sure have got allot of attention. This have reached the swedish news today.
When is that superbowl thing?
Wish you good luck;)

59. Frida - January 2, 2007

If i wasnt a pour student i would easilly give you money!
I think it is a very great idea, just bad I am not going to see it, as I live in Sweden. But i´ll bet it will turn up on youtube, or something :D

VERY good luck to you!

65. Dino - January 2, 2007

Man i am not saying anything! I bet she loves you as much as you love her, And this is the best idea i’ve seen and wish you the best of luch!!! But what if she says No? What happends then? To you and sponsors??

66. Anonymous - January 2, 2007

I can donate 10 bucks to you when I have seen the result. After all, when you have raised that kind of money you might just find it simplier to get down on yer knees and say the words. Cheaper aswell.

67. L. - January 2, 2007

This is a cool idea! I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

L., Sweden

68. Benjamin Hansen - January 2, 2007

OMG…u can’t make it…
well… what if U never make it, then U just keep all the money by your’self? damn… I should do I scam like this is Denmark, but I don’t think people are THAT stupid….

69. Jocker - January 2, 2007

Godd idea in USA, but a very good idea to have money to the rest of your life. Can´t understand why people donate money. Is your girlfriend so in need of a proposal during superbowl than an ordinary proposal when you are eating at a restaurang for 100 dolars?
The idea is weird, but isn´t the people who donates more wierd?

70. someone - January 2, 2007

That is SICK!

71. Oscar Ekdahl - January 2, 2007

As have already been posted, this seems to have “leaked” out to Scandinavia. Most likely it will spread from Aftonbladet.se to other major newspapers in Europe. Seeing as Aftonbladet had around 55 million unique visitors per month in march last year, and the trend is upgoing, I think you will see a big upswing in number of visitors and hopefully donations aswell!

I agree with the rest of the people in here, you need to add some credibility to your website. Contact the hospital, get their logo up here and sort out some details concerning the ad and a back-up plan if you cant get an ad. If you really plan on succeding you need to be more convincing. This is your thing and you should do it your own way, but I strongly believe that if you treat it in a bit more business-like manner, you will soon find that your funds will go up up up!

Finally, I hope you succeed! I will try to watch it from over the atlantic ocean if you do. Best of luck to you, your future wife and love!

~Oscar Ekdahl, Sweden

72. Anonym - January 2, 2007

I’m not realy old enough to be donating money on the internett, but I added a link to the site in my blogg, my msn - nickname and forum signature. So maybe you get a few more clicks.

It’s a realy neat idea, and I would love to see it happen. The best of luck to you on your mission!

Oh, and I hope she says yes, no mather how you end up proposing :)

73. Isabell - January 2, 2007

Hi I’m from sweden and i’m just writing to tell you that “Aftonbladet” the largest newspaper in sweden has been writing about your website ^^,
Hope you will make it :)

74. lars - January 2, 2007

Incredible what people believe in. Keep sending him money guys and girls….he’s laughing all the way to the bank.

75. SwedePeter - January 2, 2007

Only in America……..

76. Werner - January 2, 2007

I think you should use the money on a nice ring and maybe a helicopter flying over her house with a banner stating you want to marry her, honestly i think you focus too much on football here.

77. Mads Bro - January 2, 2007

Hello, the same have one of denmarks largest newspaper BT.dk done as well. :-)

78. Frederik - January 2, 2007

Sorry to say this, but wouldn’t it be hilarious if she said no?

79. Swegirl - January 3, 2007

This is so cute ^^
If only every person that belives in love can have it with that effort.
You should be happy that you have gone this far even if its not all the way…
Im holding mu thums and hope you can make it, sorry that I cant help in the donations.

80. Cooper SWE - January 3, 2007

US the land of the stupid…. this site is a real proof of that !

81. Andy in Los Angeles - January 3, 2007

Sorry dude!

Looks like the biggest scam website I have ever seen. You need more creditability. By the way, what do you plan to do with the money when you fail to complete your mission?

82. TheAmorousClam - January 3, 2007

If it’s not a scam, then GOOD LUCK to you. Hope you hit your goal and prove your critics wrong.

83. Julie - January 3, 2007

Good luck in what you are trying to accmplish… hope to see you on the tv on super bowl sunday…… Also i see that you are a Preds Fan. My Sons father is the Equipment manager for them………. well GOOD LUCK and keep going for your dream, dont let people get you down……..

84. Tom - January 3, 2007

Just make a video of whatever you want and distract her at 1/2 time have someone pop it in the dvd player and propose. Then give the money to the hospital and move on with your life

85. From Pennsylvania - January 3, 2007

A lot of people on here have been discouraging to your plan but ignore the negative feedback and just be happy that you’re getting exposure!!! Hope that it all works out! I dont even watch the Superbowl but I will this year :)

86. Smarter in NorCal - January 3, 2007

To all you lazy folks who don’t read or “don reed iglish” so well. The Man said he was going to donate it to Vanderbilt Children’s hospital. I expect the lack of reading from the Andy of LA types, but I had more faith in our international friends.

Good luck – and I hope all of the $$$ will go to the hospital

87. tp - January 3, 2007

if you use the donated money to buy the ad for $2.5 mil, how will the Children’s Hospital get any money?

88. liam - January 3, 2007

Hey jackass he still has to pay for the commercial. So if it costs 2 million for the spot he has to come up with 2 million dollars of which he is responsible for paying tax on.

89. sally - January 3, 2007

The sad part here is that if you ever worked for and earned 2.5 million dollars you wouldn’t blow it on a commercial, but since its other peoples hard earned money you will… Yes you mention a childrens hospital but are very vague. Yet you seem to have a plan that would make them benefit right after you get your thrill

90. Tommy - January 3, 2007

What an extravagant and sad waste of money.

Tell ya what, get on one knee, propose and donate all $2 million to charity. There are far better uses in this world for $2 million than your need to feel special.

91. JMH - January 3, 2007

well, if she says no, that guy who caught the chicago cubs ball is off the hook as the most hated person in sports.

92. blah BS - January 4, 2007

My Sons father is the Equipment manager for them……….

HUH

93. PB, Kentucky - January 4, 2007

Ok, obviously most of the people who have commented negatively haven’t even read all the posts. I’m not even going to repeat what he said because it is a waste of time. The ones that keep commenting negatively will only continue to do so. None of them seem to be brave enough to go back and read the whole story and all the posts so that they know what they are talking about and apologize to JP.
I do agree that it is hard to believe that it isn’t a hoax. He really does need to have something to show that everything he is saying is true, but then how hard would that make it for him to keep this as a suprise? That is a tough call.
I really wish I had the money to donate a bit to the charity, but I don’t and probably won’t before everything is said and done. I wish you luck in this and hope that everything turns out wonderful for you and your bride to be - even if you aren’t able to do the Super Bowl Proposal!

94. Mystery - January 4, 2007

“My Sons father is the Equipment manager for them….”

Yeah, she means the father of her son. Its not that complicated lol.

95. horseycraze - January 4, 2007

I hope your fiancee is aware of what a vain idiot you are.

96. PB, Kentucky - January 5, 2007

How is this vain?????? He wants to make it special for her! And sorry if you don’t agree, but it should be special for him too. Something that they will both remember for the rest of their lives, and be able to say “hey, I did that”. I really don’t understand why so many people have a problem with this idea. I don’t think half of you have even read much of what he has said. Go for it JP, and ignore all these negative people who probably wouldn’t know a romantic notion if it was shoved up their a**. Sorry, I just get so aggravated when I see people trying to shoot down a great romantic idea. I think she will love that you went to all this trouble to do or try to do the proposal this way.

My husband didn’t do anything extravagant, but his proposal was perfect for us. I remember like it was yesterday, I can still see the smile on his face. :-) People need to stop telling you that you shouldn’t do it this way. If this is what you want to give to her, go for it, and don’t give up until you get it! If you are as sure of her love, that you are willing to get up in front of millions of people to proclaim how you feel, then it is worth all the trouble.

I am praying that you get to do this for her. I probably will be in front of the TV that day watching for it - and that is saying something, considering I don’t like football much. GOOD LUCK!!

97. lars - January 7, 2007

PB. I will not believe ONE DIME of what this dude is selling on this site unless it is backed up officially by the “charity” recipient. Putting a link to the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital doesn’t mean one damn thing.

If this is seriously a charity worthy of support the funds should NEVER go to the creator of this website. It should go DIRECTLY to the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. There are no mentions of this “donation” on the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital website and please tell me why that is? They are suppossedly getting $ 85.000 for charity and they don’t bother to mention it? Yeah…that makes perfect sense.

……Oh I forgot. This is a secret operation so they can’t really mention it untill he propose. Gotcha.

98. cali - January 8, 2007

hi, i might be mistaken, but doesn’t this money have to be reported to the irs? that is the way for any one of us to check this info to make sure this guy really donated the money to vanderbilt. vanderbilt will also have to report this income. also, i thought that he said all the money was going to this charity??? why did he say : ” Thanks to everyone who’s contributed and pledged donations. The thousands collected to date should make for an amazing contribution and a truly spectacular engagement gift, too.” i thought it was ALL going to the charity. i agree with iars. i will go one step further, however, i am going to email, and speak with someone at the vanderbilt children’s hospital in nashville, and give them this website to investigate for themselves. i know they have plenty of attorneys willing to check in on a little donation being collected using their name. for this guys sake, i hope this is all legitimate or else he can propose from the federal prison. p.s. i realize that this guy probably moderates this site, so i won’t hold my breath that it will be posted, but i will copy and paste this to my email to vanderbilt. thanks, i hope you really do donate this money to them.

99. dumbass - January 8, 2007

this is stupid.

100. sally - January 8, 2007

CALI….. I think you are a moron….get a life

101. innocent bystander - January 9, 2007

i love watching people argue on stupid blogs and forums. i spend hours just reading the posts and not even remembering the overall subject.

102. john - January 9, 2007

have the childrens hospital publicize itself in the commercial and stay the hell out of it

103. Hank - January 9, 2007

Why don’t you try and get PayPal to sponsor you? Or at least get them to refund some of the fees they take from you on each donation you receive?

Good Luck!!

104. Irritated - January 10, 2007

Why do people have to be such pessimistic @u$k faces? I think you’re sweet. My husband was so nervous when he proposed I don’t think he said anything at all, just handed me the ring. I commend you for this huge endeavor and know you and your future wife will remember it always! You’ve got to much attention now for it not to happen. Good Luck!

105. Lauren - January 10, 2007

As far as I can tell, money is still being raised, and the donation hasn’t been made yet. Now, I’m not here to throw blows or anything but, the next time the you pull up to a McDonalds drive up window, take a look at all of the change in the Ronald McDonald House Boxes. Not all Donations are made Immediately upon receipt. I don’t know, call me a sucker or what have you, but I think that this is legit. And even if it is a scam, all of the radio shows, and news shows that he has done..those people have his information. I would love to keep hope alive, knowing that there is some guy out there, doing everything in his power to make his engagement to his girlfriend, the most memorable, special, and monumental experience of their entire lives! Kudos JP! Best of luck and I hope you have really big plans for the ceremony, because this proposal is going to be tough to beat!

106. john - January 11, 2007

107. PSNY - January 14, 2007

This is the most selfish thing I have ever heard of.

108. F*** all the haters - January 15, 2007

Everyone who says this is selfish and doesn’t have faith in this should f***ing grow a pair. You are all just whiny little f***s and don’t care about anything but yourself. I have been following this site for a month or two now and I am sick and f***ing tired of the haters. I wish you the best luck and I really hope to see you on the tube February 4th. I first read about you in the ESPN magazine. Great idea to put it in their by the way. Best of luck to you…….and F*** THE HATERS

109. Andreas Englund - January 16, 2007

Well i found this page a month ago, and read all the comments. Indeed i understand peoples thoughts about this.

Allot of people like might like the idea but are afraid that this is a scam, since the person has NOT included any personal information the suspicion increases.

I personally will not give this person any money, the reason is that im quite poor my self and that this just doesn’t feel right.

But in anyway Good luck, and i do hope that this is for real.

110. john - January 16, 2007

How much did you sell the rights to storybid for you are raising money so start giving answers

111. duke - January 18, 2007

So I guess we will hear from you again when your kids are about to go to college. My Super tuition. I don’t give a fuck about your love what not. It’s between you and her. Keep it that way.

112. Nikki - January 19, 2007

I think this is awesome. Great idea, no one’s done something like this before, and the donations going to a children’s hospital, icing on the cake. Way to go! Hope she says yes! Good luck!

113. D - January 19, 2007

it’s amazing how many cynists there are in this world…i guess i can’t blame them BUT i like to think that not everyone has a secret motive. if i wasn’t a starving college student (and you hadn’t already been picked up by an advertiser) i would have donated! again, congratulations and good luck with everything. i personally like to see other people’s love fore each other. it’s much better than watching the war anyday!!

118. Dennis - January 20, 2007

Cool idea but bordering on shameless self promotion for monetary gain. The hospital should receive all the proceeds, you’ll find that more people would be willing to donate. Tugging at the romantic heart strings of people for profit is just plain wrong.

119. Dan from Wash. DC - January 21, 2007

ALRIGHT ALREADY!!! If this whole thing is a Scam then Mystery Man JP will have a lifetime to pay the price and the Karma boomerang will eventually catch up with him. It’s too late to turn back now! The 800 pound Media World Gorillas are in motion as we speak!
But if it’s really true, then it’s an unbelievably great creative marketing idea for someone with the balls to try and pull it off. Kudos to the marketing genius of Joe Morin and others behind the curtain to make this all happen! I wish I could come up with an idea like that!

Go for it Chief!

120. Toxic Avenger - January 22, 2007

I hope she says NO! How about much as much effort into your school studies or job? She will leave you when she realizes you are a punk.

121. daniel - January 22, 2007

if i were you, i would tape it JUST IN CASE she misses the ad, then when she gets up the next time, you can rewind the tape and show it to her. good luck, and God bless

122. Stacy Providence, RI - January 22, 2007

Shyza! You are a genius! Everyone is claiming that this is a scam, and you’re being talked about everywhere! Little RI got word of you today and I’m amazed! I totally think you can do this and I hope she’ll say yes! I wanted the Patriots to go to the superbowl but now I’m watching because of you! This is so intrigueing and I wish you the best of luck! Don’t let anyone put you down because dreams come true…

123. Albert R. - January 22, 2007

I think any woman worth to do what you’re doing dude…

This money can save hundreds of lifes, can be used for research, support a noble cause where the benefits are lasting.

Remember this wise words: To women, not all the money, not all the love. Learn from them, I’m sure your inconfidence can be cured and you have a lot some other things to offer.

If what you’re looking for is popularity, give up last minute even if you raised the money and donate all of it to the hospital. You’ll be a real hero and I will respect you.

124. Ash - January 23, 2007

This blows the top off of proposals. Guys will have to get pretty creative to top this. :)

125. Amy Compton - January 23, 2007

I just heard about this on the radio this morning. Although I think it is an amazing gesture of love towards your girlfriend, and very romantic that you want the whole world to know how much you love her, I have to agree with some of the above comments. I would love to see this money being put towards something even more meaningful………..like the charity of your choice.

126. Greg Keane - January 24, 2007

Well first I can think of a trillion things I could do with $2.5 million or a spot on such a widely viewed spectacle. Second with all the press this has generated and will generated as we close in on the day of the game if this guy was smart he would have put some google ads on here and probably be at $5million let alone $2.5million. I just google his domain, its on digg so the traffic at this site has to be insane.

I’m going to go register www.mysuperdivorce.com, cause this guy likes to do it big, I’m planning ahead. I’m not saying they won’t last, this is just a entrepreneurial move…the stats on divorce don’t lie.

well all that said, I will still wish you good luck and I may even decide to venture out and watch the game.

127. Benjamin - January 24, 2007

Long way to go…
Good luck.

128. beccaB from PA - January 24, 2007

Don’t listen to all these stupid people on here. You’ll make it, and it will be wonderful. Something that everyone will remember for years and years. Everyone that is saying harsh things, are jealous that they didn’t think of it first. And how could she possibily say no? There is no way she will say NO, it’s a amazing thing what you are doing!! Good Luck and Best wishes!!! I’ll be watching!

129. Adam - January 25, 2007

not to be a downer but you say how could she say no but wat if she wants to but cant because he got a spot on the superbowl comerical spot

130. Adam - January 25, 2007

and also how could she not already know about this big raising money thing if its likee in the paper and like everyone is telling everyone like i live in canada and my teacher told me about it how are you keeping this a secret

131. Lars, Denmark - January 25, 2007

There are cynics and naive people all around the world. I’ve said my piece earlier and if people want to donate because of their belief then good for them. I guess I’m catogorized as a cynic but I’m fine with that.

You don’t need a Super Bowl ad to tell someone you love them. Do something from your heart that says you love her and she’ll find it even more special.

And I still don’t get why the funds are not donated directly to Vanderbilts Childrens Hospital. They don’t even take PayPal donations on their own website.

132. Lars, Denmark - January 25, 2007

Well I thought I’d contact the hospital myself. This is the reply I got from Jessica King-Bernard which is Associate Director of Development.

“Many thanks for your inquiry regarding the “My Super Proposal” website. To date, the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt has not received any donations from this mystery man. A publicist he hired has been in contact with officials at our hospital, however, we do not have signed documentation stating that the mystery man will make this donation once the endeavor is complete. I am sorry that I cannot offer you more information.”

All I ask is that people who consider to donate, do so directly to the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital and not to the owner of this is site. If you want to support the “mystery man” because you believe in the romance of his idea so be it…but if you want to donate to a worthy cause I’d strongly recommend that you donate directly to the Vanderbilt Childrenss Hospital. To do that lookup their site and search for donations.

133. Lars, Denmark - January 25, 2007

For those who still think I’m just being cynical I took a screenshot of the mail:

http://img233.imageshack.us/my.php?image=vanderbilt3rl.jpg

134. JP - January 25, 2007

Lars - we’re trying to get that money to Vanderbilt, I promise. But, all donors need to go through a vetting process, which we’re doing right now. I can assure you, though, that all of the funds I’ve raised and as much of the pledges as will honor their contribution will be sent to Vanderbilt.

My interest is in the proposal, not in the money. If I was cynical, I could have deleted or not approved your comments, but I think it’s very fair to investigate and it is important to get the money over there.

Thanks! - JP

135. Kimberly Andrade - January 26, 2007

I think that what you are doing is completely romantic! I thought my engagment was romantic. I was engaged in a gondola, at Waterfire in Providence, RI. I wish you the best of luck and hope that everything goes as planned. Don’t worry I am sure she will say yes!

136. jay - January 26, 2007

jp

first you don’t have to explain nothing to lars nor anyone else here . hey the deal is if you donate the cash just think of the tax write off you can use . good luck and when she say’s yes and you get married let me give you this solid advice that has kept me married for 18 years ,which is getting harder to do considering i,m only 40 well here it is it takes two to make it work and two to screw it up. and most important of all is keep your married life to your selfs do not run to mommy or daddy with your problems work them out on your own! well good luck with everything it’s a great deal !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

137. justin - January 27, 2007

heres and idea take the money find a scalper get to the game conact the nfl get on the field do it on the 50 and be done with it get a honeymoon in hawaii during the pro bowl and then donate the rest let her have a good time as well she gonan be stuck with your broke ass for life or until she finds a good divorce lawyer lol but best of luck

138. Anonymous - January 27, 2007

CAN YOU THINK OF THE WEDDING/HONEY MOON YOU COULD HAVE WITH 2 MILLION?!?! THE HOUSE? THE CAR? WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU WASTE IT ALL ON A PROPOSAL…………..OHhhhh I HAVEN’T EVEN MENTIONED THE RING YET. THE RING WOULD PROBABLY COST LESS IN THIS CASE…

139. Lars, Denmark - January 27, 2007

JP….I appreciate you letting my comments on the site be. It dosn’t convince me of anything though.

People must decide for themselfes and I probably am a minority since you have managed to gather $85.000 based on a single website and a fairly simple idea. I’m sincerly just hoping that the money does go to charity.

140. Shhhhh It's a Secret! - January 29, 2007

It’s pretty simple I think… In order to keep this a secret, it’s really not possible for him to be anything other than a “mystery man” to us or to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital until after Sunday. Ok, now here comes the “simple” part…. If you don’t believe him, then donate direct to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital or just don’t donate at all. Just please quit “pooh-poohing” all over this man’s romantic heart!

141. Lars, Denmark - January 29, 2007

Listen…. I will speak my mind on this subject and there ain’t nothing you can do about it sweetie. Accept it.

Just like you are free to post comments like the one above where you’re gushing about the romantic idea of this I can post my comments. Why is that so hard to understand and respect?

My comments have been non deragetory, or angry nor despicable and JP has let them be because he’s reasonable enough to understand that some people are skeptic about it.

142. JP - January 29, 2007

Lars - Just a quick update. This week (by Wednesday) we should be getting around $11K that is in cash to Vanderbilt. Then, after the game airs, the pledges will hopefully all contribute their promised amounts, too.

I’ll make sure to keep on top of this, as I know it’s a sensitive subject to think that someone might scam a charity. I promise you that’s not the case. If I did that, I’m sure that no advertiser would ever pick up the spot.

143. Wrong tree you're barking up - January 30, 2007

You’re so vain that you probably think this post was about you, about you…sorry, but my post was not about you Lars but to the general “pooh-pooh” comments on this site. Now look what you’ve done, I’ve broke a nail… mln

144. Lars, Denmark - January 30, 2007

Yeah you totally know me girl. I’m so vain it’s insane. lol

JP, I’m a little bit sorry I won’t be able to watch the US commercials during the Super Bowl. In Denmark we only get video feed and have Danish announcers. Would have been fun to look for your spot.

145. Shinu - January 31, 2007

I just came across this story a few weeks ago, up here in Canada, and I made a donation. It wasn’t much but I gave whatever I could. What you’re doing, I think, is one of the most romantic things I have ever had the honour of being apart of or heard of. And by donating the money to a worthy cause makes me even happier.I wish you and your fiance-to-be all the best in the world. With everything going on these days its nice to see love win one round :) I’ll be watching this sunday and cheering you on. Goodluck!

146. Sarah - February 1, 2007

Hey there,
At first when I heard about this on Entertainment Tonight, I thought it was pretty lame to propose on tv but the lenghts your going for this girl is amazing. I wasn’t really planning on watching the big game since it’s also my birthday on sunday but I can’t wait to watch it now. I wish you and your fiance-to-be (I hope) the best of luck in the future. Also I was wondering… out of all this money donated, did any of it come out of your pocket or are you just hoping everyone else will donate what you need?

147. Anonymous - February 1, 2007

Lars, I bet this proposal will end up on youtube or something so you can always check it out there after.

148. Mara Toukatly - February 1, 2007

A lot of hard work for a thoughful cause - and so very compassionate of you to donate the 85K to the Children’s Hospital. Best wishes for your future endeavors!!

149. KTL - February 1, 2007

The distance between $85K and $2.5M will not happen in 2 days PERIOD! Donate the money and move on!

150. Emily - February 2, 2007

Keep going! you can do it. I’ll wire you the rest of the money. Wait you said you gave up all ready. I guess I can’t get you the money anymore.

151. Lauren - February 2, 2007

Seeing this proposal on TV is one of the biggest reasons I’m watching the game this year. Good luck to you! Of course many people will be skeptical and untrusting of your intentions…but that is only because we live in a world where its expected that people cheat other people. How sad. But after all the press, you can’t really afford to have several million people hunting you down for lying…so why would it all be a scam? I think your girlfriend will be very happy that you did this for her. Don’t be nervous!

152. Lauren - February 2, 2007

I heard you on 107.5 the River a few months ago and I keep thinking about your proposal and hoping it will happen. I just wanted to log back on today and see how it was going. Its sad to think that after all this work it probably won’t happen, but you know what, the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital will greatly benefit from all this if it doesn’t turn out…and your girlfriend can’t possibly say no to a man who obviously loves her more than anything in the world. Good luck with everything and best wishes!

153. TJG - February 3, 2007

I, too was basically going to keep on the super bowl to see the proposal. I have been talking about it for weeks. I hope it happens for you. I love that you had this grand plan. It is almost every little girls dream to have the world see someone declare their love. Good luck on your engagement and marriage either way.

154. Alex - February 4, 2007

why wont they let you air the ad? this thing is famous (ive heard about it in Canada) and it would bring a shitload of puiblicity to the network. if for nothing else it would make them seem compassionate enough to let a guy in love make a statement. i hope those bastards let it go on. good luck.

155. tom kane - February 4, 2007

at least you made $85000 to spend on your wedding

156. MB - February 4, 2007

I guess all the big wigs thinks about is the bottom line, not who buys their product. If they don’t air the ad I can say one less supporter for them.

157. Jen - February 4, 2007

I like how stupid companies are and will air things like “The Bachelor” or “Bachelorette” for them to find ‘love’ in an unconventional way, but they won’t be kind enough to help out and let someone (TRULEY in love) declare that love that they have found publicly. Just goes to show that them making money is all that it’s about. Boo!

I’m sure that your (to be) fiancee will still be 100% happy in the end with all of the trouble that you’ve gone through trying to make this work, even if your plans don’t work out! It was definetly a fab idea.

158. Aaron E - February 4, 2007

Good Luck to ya, i was sure looking forward to seeing the AD sorry i’ll miss it.

I agree 100% with the previous comment that once your fiance sees what you’ve done and how close you came to making this happen on the air, She is sure to say “Yes” to the big question

159. Joe - February 4, 2007

WHY dint you just put the ad on your local CBS

160. tina - February 4, 2007

Are you going to be on your local CBS today

161. KRG - February 7, 2007

Congratulations. I just saw this on MSNBC. Well done! I also read through the bulk of the posts and I hope that the bulk of the naysayers feel like complete idiots for trying run you down with their negative comments.

I wish you and your fiance all the best and sincerely hope the two of you go the distance!

Cheers!

162. CH - February 7, 2007

Congrats to both of you!! I hope you’ll keep this site open and let us know when the wedding will be and of course pictures!
Geraldine ~ you’re very lucky to have such a nice guy that will go to such great lengths. Hold on tight :-)

163. Jen - February 7, 2007

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! her response was fabulous, and a bit funny :)

164. Dana - February 8, 2007

I must say I was very sad that it was not on during SUPER BOWL…but did check it out and her reaction…By the look on her face I think she didn’t care what show it aired on…Good for you…May God Bless you both for many years together…..And to the comments that were not so nice…Shame on them..They probably are the kind of people that are never happy..May God bless them also….

165. Britt - February 8, 2007

That was the best proposal and response from her… I actually cried. I’m so excited for both of you. I think you did an awesome thing to show your love and devotion. If I would have heard about this sooner, I would have donated. We all need to be reminded of the crazy extents people will go for love. My day just got brighter… thanks!

166. Carrie - February 8, 2007

CONGRATULATIONS!!!
I am sooo happy for the both of you!!!
I wish you all the happiness in the world!!!

167. Kelly - February 8, 2007

I really loved the part on this site about being ready for ” ’til death do us part.” So many people don’t think that way anymore. I can tell you, when you decide divorce isn’t an option, you’ll be amazed at the things you can find a way through together, and how much happier you can come out on the other side of the big storms.

Just wanted to share one more thing. When my hub and I got married, Daddy said to me, “You THINK you love him now, you just wait, in 5 years you won’t believe how much more you love him. In ten years you’ll wonder how you lived without him. In twenty-five years you’ll ADORE him… and it keeps on growing.” Eight years in, and he was SO RIGHT. God bless you both, you made my night!

168. Daisy - February 9, 2007

Congratulations! The only reason I watched the Superbowl this year is so I could see the proposal. I was so sad when it did not air.

169. Kellie (Tasmania Australia) - February 10, 2007

Congrats to you both. I just read this on the CNN website so I had to come and find you. I’m so sorry that you had so much negativity before, but you stuck to your guns and proved that you were true.
I got goose bumps watching the reaction!! What a wonderful man you are and I hope you have the most wonderful future together.
All the best to you both.

170. Mark - February 10, 2007

DUDE! That was fantastic!!! Her reaction was priceless. Well done! I wish you two the best and a long and happy marriage.
